OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that caused or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to combustible dust explosion, deflagration, or other fire hazards while working at or near dust collection system which were not adequately designed to prevent or minimize employee exposure in the event of a deflagration or other uncontrolled fire event: (a) 115 Ford Street in Pontotoc, MS - On or about April 3, 2014, employees were exposed to combustible dust fire and explosion hazards due to the employer's failure to protect the three dust collection systems with isolation devices. (b) 115 Ford Street in Pontotoc, MS - On or about April 3, 2014, employees were exposed to combustible dust fire and explosion hazards due to the employer's failure to provide permanent grounding and bonding of the outside storage trailers/bins subject to the accumulation of static electric charge. |
