Complaint What Happened In late XXXX I received a call from a woman who supposedly works for Carter - Young ( www.carter-young.com ) whom she said is a debt collection agency. She requested that I settle my debt with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX AL XXXX I do not owe XXXX XXXX any money. I have receipts where I pay my lease in full through XX/XX/2020 even though I completely moved out on XX/XX/XXXX due to COVID and graduation. XXXX XXXX would not inspect the apartment unit at the time due to XXXX. They required that I send pictures of every room and responded back to me that the unit was return in good shape. Exactly three years later this agency contacts me that I owe {$790.00} for XXXX and XXXX water and sewer fees and carpet replacement. Carter-Young offers to " negotiate '' the fees. I have tried repeatedly to reach out to XXXX XXXX and they do not answer the phone nor respond to my emails. Carter-Young list their address as XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX, GA XXXX XXXX XXXX Fax : ( XXXX ) XXXX. They also keep saying that they will remove this from my credit report, however : there is nothing on my credit report related to XXXX XXXX

Complaint What Happened On XX/XX/2020 I sent a letter via certified mail to Carter-Young, Inc requesting validation of the debt they say I owe. I still have not received the information that I requested from this company. This debt still appears on my credit file as a negative account. It is causing many disruptions in my life, including finding a home.

Complaint What Happened Carter-Young INC said I signed a lease in XXXX for the University XXXX. I never signed a lease there. I was living and going to school in XXXX. I have not been back to XXXX since XXXX of XXXX when someone stole my social security number and tried to claim me on their taxes. I have submitted documentation to them showing them that I never signed and I was living in XXXX and going to school here. They still refused to dismiss the debt as identity theft. The credit bureaus do not want to take this fraudulent information off my credit after I have disputed it multiple times. All Carter-Young has sent me was a lease that was missing signatures but on the very last page it had the initials XXXX typed in. How can that document even be classified as legitimate. The key was never picked up for the apartment and no one never moved in. I want this fraudulent information removed immediately. Also, XXXX, I co-signed that apartment in XXXX of XXXX. I never lived there just helped a friend out who was homeless and trying to get on her feet with her XXXX year old son. I was NEVER informed by her or the company that she was evicted. I never knew anything about that eviction so that information is also fraudulent and I would like it removed from all three of my credit and tenant history report.

Complaint What Happened CARTER-YOUNG INC XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, GA XXXX Phone number ( XXXX ) XXXX I checked my three credit reports and found an assumed collection account from CARTER-YOUNG INC with different opening dates, balances, first date of delinquency, balance due, and/or last date of activities for this same exact account number. I have never had an account with this company nor any record of any type of first notice of debt including rights to dispute from this company. And if I, by chance, even though I have no recollection nor tangible record, naively spoke with a representative of this company over the phone about this debt, I was not informed by that representative that I had a right to dispute this debt nor a specific timeframe to do so. 15 USC 1692g 809. Validation of debts ( a ) Notice of debt ; contents states that within five days after the initial communication with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt, a debt collector shall, unless the following information is contained in the initial communication or the consumer has paid the debt, send the consumer a written notice containing ( 3 ) a statement that unless the consumer, within thirty days after receipt of the notice, disputes the validity of the debt, or any portion thereof, the debt will be assumed to be valid by the debt collector. XXXX XXXX XXXX definition of the word receipt is- a writing acknowledging the receiving of goods or money ; proof, evidence. I never signed nor received any type of acknowledgement receipt from a mailing service for any mail from this company. I am familiar with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ). Had I signed a receipt of notice for the proper and legal documentation from this company, I wouldve immediately responded asking for lawful verification of debt or copy of court ordered judgement well within the lawful 30 days allotted. After receiving my response letter with receipt, this company would have to legally cease from collection attempts and remove the account from my credit reports until their proof of verification is sent back to me. This company has reported to my credit reports without observing the FDCPA laws. My credit has been impacted adversely because of this companys irresponsibility. My credit reports also show that CARTER-YOUNG INC has provided this alleged account with inaccurate information. The FCRA requires that all data reported from the credit reporting agencies, creditors, or furnishers on a consumer 's report be 100 % ACCURATE, 100 % VERIFIABLE, and 100 % TIMELY. This means no data can be reported that can't be legally PROVEN to be 100 % accurate. I also understand that medical collections under {$500.00}, a paid medical collection, a collection less than a year old, or having a past due balance found on a collection account should not be listed on consumer credit reports. My XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX credit reports all show different and inaccurate open dates, balances, first date of delinquency, balance due, and/or last date of activities for this same exact account. This is erroneous and flawed reporting that is listed on my credit reports. Not only did this company not follow lawful FDCPA communications protocol, but it has also broken FDCPA False or Misleading Representations protocol as well. A debt collector, in collecting a debt, may not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation. Specifically, a debt collector may not falsely represent the character, amount, or legal status of the debt, or of any services rendered, or compensation he or she may receive for collecting the debt. A debt collector may not communicate, or threaten to communicate, false credit information or information that should be known to be false, including not identifying disputed debts as such. Each of my 3 credit reports show different information instead of them all showing the exact same information. This is considered a false and misleading representation that this company has submitted to the credit reporting agencies. Please remove this account from my credit reports immediately. It is not my duty to provide evidence that this alleged debt is not mine. It is the obligation of the debt collector to provide evidence that they can lawfully collect on any alleged debt, accurately report to the credit agencies, and follow all FCRA and FDCPA laws. As of today, they have been unsuccessful.

Complaint What Happened I have a derogatory mark of XXXX $ from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. This was over leaving an apartment before finishing out the lease. BUT the reason I had to leave was due to a medical emergency. ( An ambulance even came to my apartment to get me ) The management at the time told me I was not obligated to finish paying the lease and that they completely understood, all was fine. Then the apartments were bought by a different company and next thing I know, my credit was impacted very negatively.
