29 CFR 1910.23(c)(3): Regardless of height, open-sided floors, walkways, platforms, or runways above or adjacent to dangerous equipment, pickling or galvanizing tanks, degreasing units, and similar hazards were not guarded with a standard railing and toe board. a) At the stacking machine, on or about April, 2, 2012, employees working on the operator control platform were not protected on the end of the platform next to the conveyor for the bundles. The platform was 52 inches above the ground. b) At the stacking machine, on or about April, 2, 2012, employees working on the operator control platform were not protected along the stacking conveyor near the stairs. The top and middle safety chains were not attached. c) In the treatment room, on or about April 2, 2012, an employee was exposed to falling into dangerous equipment along the catwalk between number 1 and number 2 cylinders and along the open pit between number 2 and number 3 cylinders because there was no standard guardrail system. |
