29 CFR 1926.453(b)(2)(v): A body belt shall be worn and a lanyard attached to the boom or basket when working from an aerial lift. Note to paragraph (b)(2)(v): As of January 1, 1998, subpart M of this part (1926.502(d)) provides that body belts are not acceptable as part of a personal fall arrest system. The use of a body belt in a tethering system or in a restraint system is acceptable and is regulated under 1926.502(e). (a) Jobsite- On or about July 20, 2016 employees working from an aerial lift were installing aluminum siding to the soffit 30 feet high without fall protection. Hooker Construction, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard or its equivalent standard 1926.453(b)(2)(v), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1056372, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as final order on 6/16/2015, with respect to the workplace located at 1 Sorority Road Oxford, MS 38655. Hooker Construction, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard or its equivalent standard 1926.453(b)(2)(v), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 315307652, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as final order on 3/22/2012, with respect to a workplace located at 742 Jackson Avenue Oxford, MS 38655. |
